At Delve, our aim is to publish anywhere between three and five articles per month which range from approximately 350 words to 800 words and follow a topical list. We have a small band of regular contributors, but we are always eager to discover new writers, so if you are interested in writing for us, please read on.
As an online magazine, we are looking primarily for first-person narrative articles that focus on real life issues people face on a day-to-day basis. Relevance is our key aim which we desire to express in areas such as spirituality, culture, friendship, career, hurt, suffering and even apologetics. Delve also accepts music and non-fiction book reviews, as well as interviews with people stepping out in the world and making an impact for the glory of Christ. We do not, however, publish devotionals, short-stories, poetry or fiction of any kind.
Writing tips:
- Don’t be afraid to be honest and open. The more honest you are, the better others will be able to relate to you.
- Use a healthy dose of stories, illustrations and analogies the reader will not be familiar with to offer real life examples and applications of your topic which people can quickly relate to.
- Portray a Christian worldview.
- Always cite sources. Research, quotes or other material you include in the article must be cited. This also includes the translation of Bible you choose.
- Write in first person.
- Don’t talk ‘at’ people but rather speak conversationally with readers on a peer-to-peer level.
